Is this a surprise?

I heard something today that surprised me but shouldn't have. Can you believe that Congress voted to give themselves a pay raise? Really, they thought this would be a good time to do that??

"As lawmakers make a big show of forcing auto executives to accept just $1 a year in salary, they are quietly raiding the vault for their own personal gain," the group's chairman, Daniel O'Connell, said in a written statement. "This money would be much better spent helping the millions of seniors who are living below the poverty line and struggling to keep their heat on this winter."

Here's the link for the full story.

The new raise does not take effect until the new term of Congress...in the meantime we should vote them all out. Speaking of raises, Hilary Clinton was a member of the Congress that voted to give the Sec. of State a pay raise during her last term which means that she is ineligible to hold that office according the Constitution for one full term. Lots of food for thought. Love you!

I think this is utterly ridiculous. People are struggling to put food on the table and they are giving themselves raises. Our government is supposed to be for the people, by the people...I want my raise.
